Dental insurance and direct billing in Hamilton
We want using your insurance to be simple. Limegreen Dental bills most major insurers directly, and we check and explain your coverage in plain language before treatment begins.
We direct-bill most major insurers
If you have a dental plan through work, a spouse or a private policy, you can likely use it at our Hamilton Mountain clinic. As a direct billing dentist in Hamilton, we submit your claim to your insurer for you and handle the paperwork. That means less for you to mail and chase.
Plans differ in what they cover, so the simplest first step is to bring your insurance details to your visit. Our front desk will confirm what we can submit on your behalf and flag anything worth checking with your provider in advance.
How direct billing works
The process is short and we handle the heavy lifting. Here is what to expect from start to finish.
Share your plan details
When you book or arrive, give us your insurance card or policy information. We verify your coverage and let you know what is likely covered.
Understand your coverage before treatment
After your exam we explain what is recommended and check and explain your coverage. For larger treatment we can submit a predetermination so you know your coverage in advance.
We submit the claim
On the day of treatment we send the claim electronically to your insurer, so you do not have to fill out forms or wait for a reimbursement cheque.
We keep you informed
Once your plan responds, we let you know how your coverage applied. If a treatment is not covered, we tell you beforehand so there are no surprises.
What to bring
A few details let us verify your plan and bill it correctly on your first visit:
- Your dental insurance card or policy information.
- Your plan number and member or certificate number.
- The policy holder's full name and date of birth if you are a dependant on someone else's plan.
- Details of any second plan, if you have coverage through more than one policy.

Understanding your coverage
Dental plans usually cover certain treatments up to an annual maximum, and many reset each calendar year. Preventive care such as exams and cleanings is often covered more fully than major work like crowns or implants. Some plans have waiting periods, frequency limits, or require a predetermination before larger treatment.
You do not have to decode any of this on your own. We read your statement of benefits with you, explain what your plan covers, and put the recommended treatment in writing. If timing matters, for example using remaining benefits before a year-end reset, we will point that out so you can plan ahead.
Coverage questions before you book?
Call our front desk at (905) 383-7979 with your plan details and we will help you understand what is likely covered, or request an appointment and we will sort it out at your visit.
No insurance? You are still welcome
Plenty of our patients have no dental plan, and that never changes the quality of care we provide. We explain your treatment clearly before anything begins, so you always know what to expect.
If you do not have private insurance, you may also be eligible for government support. We accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan, and our page on the program explains who qualifies and how to use it at our clinic.
Using your benefits across our services
Whatever brings you in, we will help you make the most of your coverage. That includes routine cleanings and check-ups, fillings, crowns, restorative and cosmetic treatment, and orthodontics. Browse our full list of dental services to see what we offer on Limeridge Road West, then book a visit and bring your plan details so we can put them to work.
